

It is with heavy hearts that the Dukovac family announces the peaceful passing of Emil Dukovac at home on April 1st, 2025, at the age of 82. Emil was the son of the late Ana Pecaric and the late Mate Dukovac. He leaves behind his devoted wife of 55 wonderful years, Monique Dukovac (née Côté), and his cherished children: Caroline (Marc) Deschamps, Martin (Patricia Nelis), Mélanie (J.D.) Heffern, Nikola (Heidi Bell), and Mate (Jennifer Millette). Emil took pride in his grandchildren Justine Deschamps, Madelaine Nelis-Dukovac, Julia, Emma, and Caley Heffern, Mackenzie and Harbour Dukovac, and Malia and Olivia Dukovac. He also leaves behind his dear siblings, John (Yolande) Dukovac, Peter (Marian) Dukovac, and Nada (Jim) Simpson; his brother-in-law, Luc (Claire) Côté; his beloved cousin, Joe (Brenda) Pecaric; and many treasured nephews, nieces, and friends.
Emil was a man devoted to his family, faith, work, and Croatian heritage. He lived each day with passion and embraced life fully, touching the hearts of everyone he met. Emil’s warmth, integrity, love, and kindness were the pillars of his character, and they will forever resonate in the memories of those fortunate to know him. Emil loved to laugh, dance, play cards, stay active, and meet new people. Whether teaching math lessons on his YouTube channel or solving problems on napkins for unexpected visitors, Emil never stopped sharing his boundless wisdom and enthusiasm. One of his greatest joys was cheering on his grandchildren in their endeavors. Emil’s legacy of love and community building will endure in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know him.
The family invites all who knew Emil to celebrate his life and legacy. Condolences will be received on Saturday, April 26, 2025, beginning at 9:00 a.m., followed by a memorial service at 10:30 a.m. at the Racine, Robert & Gauthier Funeral Home, 180 Montréal Rd, Ottawa, ON K1L 1B4.
