Dear Caroline, Monique and family 
Î was looking up recipes and stumbled on an Almond Crunch Cereal recipe that Emile had printed out for me adding his personal notes. This brought a smile remembering great memories of his visits to the clinic, always bringing a freshly baked muffin. We had wonderful chats and often had to rein both of us bach to the reason for the visit. He had so many interesting thoughts  to share! Î looked him up on google and am so saddened by his passing last April. Please accept my belated condolences and my shared sadness . He was very special and a wonderful man. My thoughts are with you.

I have known Emil for many years as a family member as I am Monique's cousin. On many occasions, I have had the opportunity to witness how great a human being Emil was in everything that he did. Not only did he have long arms...he also have such a big caring heart. The love and kindness he offered were also witnessed today through the testimonies of his lovely children and grand children. He offered to be present for us as our dad passed at an early age. I also had the privilege of learning mathematics from him at KDHS. Very special memories of Emil include the times when his grapes arrived and we were called in to go hop in the barrels and press them. We also contributed to the success of his great wine. I will always remember Emil. His kindness, love, wisdom and faith will keep on living through Monique, his children, grand children and the life of everyone he touched so dearly. Thank you to the family for such a touching celebration of his life today.

In my teenage and early adult life, you were like a second family to me, welcoming me into your busy and joyous lives. I wish I could be with you all now in this time. 

Emil was one of a kind, passionate about all aspects of life, generous with his time and knowledge, and full of encouragement and affection. I’m sure I’m not the only one of your friends who he made feel like an extended family member. 
 
I’ll never forget enjoying my first lamb roast as he passed me a piece of juice soaked bread right from the spit to watch my delighted reaction to the flavour… and my first glass of Slivo! 

I think he’d be pleased to know I’m teaching my son crib in his memory. One of a kind man and so loved. Thinking of you all and your families.

I will always remember Mr. D as both a phenomenal teacher ( I wouldn't have passed Calculus were it not for him) and a great colleague. He once said in class something to the effect of Canada being America's attic, and we only went up there when we needed something. I would say having Mr. D come down from Canada to teach at Canterbury would definitely be a gift from that "attic". He will definitely be missed by many and was always an excellent example to all of how to live a full and meaningful life. Rest in Peace Mr. D...

Our deepest condolences to Monique and the entire family. The warmth of Emil and Monique’s welcome when we first moved in to the neighbourhood made all the difference. Emil was more than just a neighbour; he was a pillar of kindness and support. We will deeply miss Emil’s thoughtful gestures – the mowed lawn, the cleared snow, the care for our garden, and the invaluable advice he offered so freely. The feeling of belonging Emil gave us from the start is something we will always treasure. The neighbourhood feels a little less bright without him here and his absence will be felt by all who knew him. He will be profoundly missed. ❤️

I still remember the first time meeting your dad, Mel. He came up to me and gave me a huge hug and three kisses on the cheek. I was taken aback considering my culture background, but he never shied away from showing his affection to me nor to my parents. We truly felt included and welcomed.  Mel, his kindness and warm personality will never be forgotten. I know his big heart will live on in you and your family, and and all the lives he touched. May God's presence be a source of comfort and strength as you and your family celebrate the life of Mr. Dukovac.

My most sincere condolences to the entire family! What a guy and a loss! Fond memories of Emil from the time we met at Sylvie and Darrel's wedding, to the first of many visits to see Monique, Emil and the clan in Fauquier. And of course always being welcomed with open arms that included several visits to the wine cellar! I am thankful to have been touched by his kindness and love of life that permeates through the entire Dukovac family! Big hugs to all on your loss!

Our sincere condolences to Monique and family. Emile was a much-admired colleague at KDHS. He was full of fresh ideas, pursuing his love for Math and instilling inquisity and knowledge in his students.

There is more laughter in Heaven now that Emil has arrived.  I remember so fondly our dinners together on Friday nights at Canterbury.  We'd laugh so hard our stomachs hurt.  Emil and Monique are simply the best of the best.  I love them and miss both of them terribly.  Emil taught in a classroom down the hall from my office.  He would stop by between classes to joke or offer encouragement.  A true gentleman and scholar.  I hope we will spend many more Friday nights together when we meet Emil again.

Sincerest condolences.  His work made the world a better place.  Over the years I frequently talk with friends about time we spent in his class. This man has made a lasting impact, and his legacy lives on in every student he taught.  Such a great man.

I had only met Emil a few times, but he left me with many fond memories.  I remember an exceptionally kind man, who loved to laugh.  He was also a brilliant man who loved numbers.  My son could never understand that.  😊  My favourite memory was him sighing while he was playing cards with my Dad, saying I taught him the game and he wins all the time. 😂 He took it all in stride and said he would get his revenge the next time. Mr. Dukovac was hands down the best math teacher, and one of the best teachers overall, I ever had the pleasure of learning from. His passion in the classroom, enthusiasm for our KDHS community, and genuine zest for life was contagious. I think of him often, now that I stand on the other side of the classroom, where he still inspires me. To this day I can still recite the Pythagorean theorem & can hear his booming voice over the PA : “Good moooorrrning KD!!”. We were all so lucky to know him.

He was a kind man with a gift for teaching. I remember him fondly. There are maybe one...or two teachers at KDHS that deserve the title of being a teacher, he was one. He was the only one who encouraged my writing. Getting me to enter the region poetry contest. I won and he asked if he could keep the poem. It was about Remembrance day.

We all go through life remembering a small handful of teachers; from kindergarten to college. A handful that hand an impact on us. Mr. D was part of that handful for me, and it saddens me to know the world has one less good soul in it.

So sorry for your loss.  Emil was such joyful and caring presence in so many people's lives, and nobody could teach trigonometry with the contagious enthusiasm that he could!  I don't think there was a single student that graduated from KDHS without Pythagoras' theorem permanently etch in their brain!  I've been blessed to know him and your family.  We'll be  playing  cribbage in his honour and holding you all in our thoughts and prayers.
