My most sincere condolences to all the family and friends. I had the pleasure to work with George for a few years, and will always remember the positive attitude he brought to the office. May he rest in peace.

My Sincere and heartfelt condolences to Georg's family and Friends. I worked with George for a few years and I truly enjoyed my conversation with him. He had the best stories to tell and was always very cheerful.

I worked with George for a few years. He brought so much energy and kindness! I am so deeply sadden to hear of his passing. Prayers to his family and friends. 

George had the kindest heart. I worked with George for years, and he always brought cheer to everyone around him. He would be the first person that I would go to see on breaks to have a chat with - a great sense of humor and huge compassion. I am deeply saddened by his passing.

Was very shocked to hear of George passing at such a young age.  I met George at our place of work, Natural Resources Canada.  He was a wonderful, and funny guy, and would do anything for you.
Both Rod and myself,  give our condolences to his whole family.

You always brought life to every family gathering. The antics you pulled on my Dad and his brother, you and they pulled on me as a kid. And nothing can replace those memories. You were, and are,  truly a family legend and it's so hard to accept that you're gone.  I wish we had made more time. Thank you for everything.

An long time friend from the early days in his basement (he introduced me to Grand Funk Railroad at high volume - the only way to listen to it)...who could always make me laugh just by listening to his laugh (some might suggest an evil laugh)...his incredible knowledge of military history....the annual fishing trips (from what I remember)...his unhidden love for Sally and his kids Matthew and Jason...I will miss my friend...

Sally, I'm so very sorry to hear of the passing of your husband. I'm thinking of you lots and saying some extra prayers for your family at this difficult time.

For almost 40 years we have shared our lives as friends.   We have laughed until we cried, shared highs and lows and been there through it all.  I will miss your laughter, your big bear hugs, our passionate conversations and the heart felt ones.   So many memories....I hear you laughing!  I will hold that until we meet again my friend.

My Uncle George, there are so many good memories I have of him. One of my favorites is , he used to baby sit me when my mum needed him to and this one particular time we " camped out" in my grandmother's living room and listened to his new Golden Earring album "moontan". That was the very first time I heard Radar Love. I was a fan from that point on. He has always been a great musical influence in my life for as far back as I can remember. Thank you Nunky George for all the great memories. I love you and always will. Keith.


I worked with George at CCRS for a number of years and lost touch with him when l left in 2000.  Our little unit was pretty close back then and although we worked hard together we also liked to party.  I will always recall the long lunches, the antics and the laughter we shared.  George had a unique sense of humour never to be forgotten.  Makes me smile to see his photo. He wore the beard well. 
He spoke often of his family and to them l send my deepest sympathies. I hope your memories will sustain you at this difficult time.  


I've been blessed to have known George my whole life - being my father's best friend. I have always thought of George as the man who always could make me smile and laugh. Sometimes I peed my pants laughing because he knew exactly how to get me to laugh too hard. George will always have a special place in my heart and his memory will live on with me forever. My deepest condolences to Sally, Matthew and Jason, he was truly a special human being. 



So sorry to hear of George's passing. I knew George from our time at NRCan and later, through mutual friends, we would chat and raise a glass. For a time he contributed to my team, always offering suggestions, helping others and telling stories that put a smile on stressful situations. You'll be missed by many Mr. Barnes - RIP.

I’m at loss for words to properly describe how I feel right now.  George was like the brother I never had, he always knew how to cheer me up and make me laugh. I’ve lost my oldest and closest friend. My heart is breaking.  I take comfort in my memories, and that we will see each other again some day.  I can’t begin to imagine the grief and sorrow the whole family is feeling right  now, but take comfort in knowing that he was loved and liked by many, and we all share your loss..

George was  a good friend for 43 years and I'll miss him. He always made me and the fishing guys laugh . My kids Betty Colin and Lyndsey all have great memories of George. I'll be thinking of you George . Allways.................


One of my favorite memories of George was when he used to shout "'Arry Potter!!" to embarrass Matthew. It still makes me smile.  My condolences.
