

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of George on November 18. He is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Joanne Tobin, and brother Andrew Bahyrycz (Teresa). Predeceased by his parents, F. Boleslaw and Stanislawa Bahyrycz, and his late wife Bozena.
Loving father to their seven children, Joanne (Doug Chisholm), Chris (Carole), Mark, Helen (Francois/Frank Rochon), Teresa (Tom Rodrigues), Richard and Anna (Rob Sorokan).
"Dziadzio", grandfather to Michael, Jeff, Bobbi, Joel, Natalie, Genna, Ali, Daniel, Andrea, Katie, Matthew, Kristian, Kiera, Jake, Chris and Scott, and great grandfather to Seth, Lucy, Auley, Lochie, Wyatt, Noah and Sophia.
George was born in Gdynia, Poland. He grew up in France and the United Kingdom where he met his wife, Bozena. They emigrated to Canada and married in 1955. George studied geology at McGill University and was awarded the prestigious Logan Gold Medal. In 1957, he obtained his Masters Degree. He worked in Manitoba as a professional geologist and then moved to Ottawa as a mineral economist. He acquired the nickname “Mr. Potash” for his expertise in the potash industry. His work took him traveling to many countries. In his retirement, he continued to travel with his wife, Joanne, his family and friends. He had the good fortune in life to visit some 50 countries around the world.

Visitation will be on Monday, Nov. 25th at 10:00 am at McEvoy Shields, 1411 Hunt Club Rd. Funeral service will be at 11:00, followed by a reception.
