Thinking of you today and sending love and peace as you remember a loving husband and father.  Whenever I think of Glen I recall the laughter and fun around Doug and Sue's table every September when we came to Ottawa.  Glen was a fun- loving, kind and helpful man.  Never firgotten; always in our hearts.

Glen was a super loving, generous, kind hearted, and down to earth man. I will forever be thankful for his kindness towards my family and all the support from him and his wife Lea. He truly will be missed but will be forever in our hearts, thoughts and prayers! ❤️🙏

Glen was such a memorable man and wonderful father.  When I think of Glen, I remember what a great Dad he was.. proud of the kids, he would help make dinner, be involved with the kids. 

I have had many pictures of Glen... because he would pick up any camera laying around and take a few pictures of himself smiling. I know that the use of cell phones stopped those shenanigans.  He was funny, caring and concerned about his family,passionate about his job and government and I loved listening to his ideas.  He always cared and supported Lea and her care of her father. He accepted all of us as family. He came to Michigan every year in support of family tradition and cementing those family bonds for not only himself and Lea but also for his children. He was truly a wonderful person.  I know he will be missed in this life but I know that we'll meet again in the next one.  Hugs!

I had the pleasure of working with Glen for a few years and got to know him well. We enjoyed a business trip to Toronto and it was fun to get to know him personally a bit.  He was a man of unmovable integrity with a very strong commitment to his work. He sought to protect the Government’s interests (its citizens) and ensure fair business practices.  A true and perfect example of what public service embodies.  To his family and friends, I got a glimpse into how special a person he was that you are so familiar with.  My sincerest condolences.

Glen has been one of the most popular guys in software in Ottawa for a long, long time.  He was great to work with - always willing to take the time to figure out how to get the job done. He saved my butt more than once! 

I don't know that we'll see the likes of Glen in our business anytime soon - dedicated and tough, but fair and with a great sense of humour.

I am saddened to hear of Glen's passing.  I can echo the same comments made by fellow PSPC colleagues.  Glen was a well liked and knowledgeable individual who shared his time and talent with anyone who had the good fortune to knowing him.

Glen was a passionate, knowledgeable problem solver who always had time for sharing with his government collegues and kids !

There are people that make a lasting impact and Glen is one of them. He helped us at Elections Canada through many software challenges. Always a help, out of the box thinker, procurement innovator and the ability to make everyone feel valued - and that laugh and smile. My condolences to Glen’s family.

I worked with him in between  2006 till 2013  at  PWGsC.  He was the software commodity specialist  and  always there to support  you.

Glen Carswell's name is synonymous with Christie Lake Camp. I first met Glen after I started working at camp as a Junior Staff in the early 60's. 

It's been a great pleasure to have maintained contact with Glen as the years seem to have past too quickly.

Glen became an important participant and guest at the annual Brighton Gray Cup weekend along with other camp friends Dan 
 Garrard, Cheryl Owens (Sunter) , Maria Harten , and Barry Halden.

I will always miss Glen but very pleased I had the opportunity of knowing him for so many GREAT years.

I was very sad to hear about Glen's passing, my condolences to the family. I worked with Glen for many years and we often played poker together. We talked about Christie Lake Boys camp many times, I attended the camp when I was young. Glen and I had a lot in common, we both played guitar and I remember passing on one of my Taylor guitars to him. You will be missed but never forgotten!

I ‘m so sorry to hear of Glen’s passing.

Early in our careers, Glen and I negotiated many software license agreements together with Glen representing one side and I the other.   As others have shared, Glen was smart,  sincere, willing to share his time and knowledge with others, respected for his expertise and committed to ensuring that the government received value in return for its investment.

I enjoyed his sense of humour and I admired his selfless commitment to Christie Lake Kids.

I was shocked and heartbroken to hear that we have lost Glen.  To Glenn’s wife, children, grandchildren and family I am so sorry for your loss.

I have known Glen for over 30 years and have worked with him many times over that period. He was a kind, bright and hard working public servant. He amazed me by always balancing  Canada’s obligation for fair procurement, client needs for the right solution while making sure to provide factual transparency to the private sector. 

Glen was recognized for his knowledge and fairness by people he worked with day to day as well those who called on him on occasion to get the simple honest truth about complex files.  

I have not worked with Glen for a while but no  matter how busy Glen was he always had time to take my calls and provide excellent and wise advice based on his knowledge and experience. 

Glen was a source of strength and knowledge to so many people at work - and for us, the  world will be a little bit colder place without Glen. 

I will miss Glen’s quiet laugh and his knowing wink. 

My thoughts and prayers are with Glen‘s family and close colleagues.

Condolences to the Carswell family for the loss of Glen. Glen's dedication to Christie Lake spanned over 50 years and I was fortunate enough to have known him all those years. I will always remember our "Road Trips" up to Camp - coffee at Tim's in Perth our walks through Camp and our conversations about the improvements to the Camp facilities. Glen was truly at home when he was at Camp. He will be greatly missed by his Camp friends.


I had the pleasure of working with Glen over many years and very much enjoyed working with him given his spirit, his commitment to fostering innovation within the public service, and his engagement in finding paths to support his clients and achieve the best value for Canadians. Glen was a well-respected colleague at PSPC. He was the Software Guru and really help me to understand the particularity of this commodity when I was in the training division.

I had the privilege of working with Glen at PSPC over 20 years ago in software licensing.  It was the heyday of the tech boom in Ottawa and Glen had a great enthusiasm for the commodity and industry.  It was a busy time, but Glen was always generous with his time and knowledge.  He was a pleasure to work with and had a great sense of humour.  Over the years, our paths continued to cross, and I always enjoyed catching up with him about what his family was up to and his passion for Christie Lake.  Glen was a kind, gentle soul who touched many lives in a positive way.  Please accept my sincerest condolences on your loss.

I met and worked with so many caring, competent and outstanding individuals at Christie Lake over a long period. Glen was one of those.  He was such a stalwart guy and he fit the mould of another fine man, Dan Gerrard who I had great respect for. Glen  gave a lot of himself to Christie Lake and we  were all enriched by knowing him and working with him. He will be truly missed.

We were saddened to hear of Glen’s sudden passing.  We knew Glen from his association with Christie Lake Kids and greatly admired his dedication to that organization. His contributions will be greatly missed but even more greatly appreciated.

Glen and I go back over 50 years. I met Glen when her was a Junior Staff at CL.C. and I was a camper there. Glen grew to become a wonderful  lifelong friend and I was privileged to have spent several years working closely with him both  at camp and throughout the years in adolescence and adulthood we shared many joyful and fun occasions. Nobody  was more in love with or dedicated to Christie Lake as demonstrated by his  energy, actions and fierce loyal  lifetime commitment  to its values and ideals.  I was so lucky and blessed to reconnect with Glen, Lea, their beautiful daughter  Emily  grandson Odin in person when they spent time in BC a few summers ago. Glen taught me a lot in many informal ways. We have lost a very loving special person. I am deeply saddened and my heart goes out to everyone in his family. Take care Love to all.

Sitting at John Fisher's place playing guitars and drinking and smoking up a storm. I was filled with emotion hearing this news and my heart goes out to his family, his friends, and the communities he dedicated himself to. Glen was a mentor for many years and I owe him my gratitude for his endless support. He always had time to chat, tell stories, lend his knowledge and provide his sage advice. He loved his acronyms, pushing boundaries (and industry’s buttons), but most of all he loved his family and his work with Christie Lake Camp. A phenomenal, one-of-a-kind individual - the world will miss him. 

Lea, Douglas and Emily. I am sure that the next little while will not be easy for you, as Glen was certainly a loving and giving family man. 

I am having a difficult time dealing with the loss of this very close friend,  particularly because of its suddenness. My memories include going to several rock concerts with Glen as well as a few Blue 
grass concerts.   Glen and I went on several canoeing trips together, the most enjoyable one being with, Glen, Lea and Steve Masters. 

As a close neighbor, Glen would often stop by or a visit,  which always involved long conversations about world politics and of course, Christie Lake camp. 

I will always remember Glen, and miss him forever

I was really sad to hear of Glen's passing. I met him when I first started working at PSPC fresh out of university. His knowledge and experience was unmatched and he helped me survive the stress and pressure of the software purchasing world. He was not only an excellent colleague but

I am so very sorry to hear this and my deepest condolences go out to his whole family.  I met Glen on pretty much my first day at work, over 31 years ago, at DSS (as it was then) and he sat a few steps away from my desk. I think he was on contract then. He was an interesting guy and I really liked him.  I remember asking him if he could install software on my computer, and he said it was not his job, but he did it anyway.  We worked together on and off, for many years.  So very sorry for his passing and I will miss him.
