Guy Landriault

Peacefully, after a short illness, on August 21, 2025 at 84 years of age. Beloved husband of Louise O’Meara, with whom he shared countless adventures. Loving father of Linda (William Landry) and stepfather of Lynn O’Meara Norris and Erin O’Meara Paczek (John). Grandfather of Natasha (Cédrik Parker), Melissa (Sébastien Leblanc) and Phillipe (Marie-Claire Losier), and step-grandfather of Gregory Norris, Hannah Norris (Sean Rayment), and Julia Norris (Janek Swiderski) Zoë, Aiden and Jake Paczek also Brianna Robazza. Great-grandfather of Rose, Noah, Lohan, Miko, Charlie, Gabrielle, Lyla, and Ronan.

Born in Ottawa to the late Rosita and Eugene Landriault, and predeceased by his brothers Raymond, Pierre, brother-in-law Louis Brazeau and sister-in-law Raymonde. Guy will be missed by his sisters Madeleine (Logan), Diane (Brazeau), Louise (Stout), Suzanne (Richard Rho), and brother Claude (Lucille) as well as many friends in Ottawa, Portugal, and Florida. Guy was a lifetime member of the French-Canadian Institute of Ottawa.

His long career in the public service included working as a diplomat with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) in the Middle East from 1981 to 1984. He also worked on a number of Public Administration Projects in developing countries in Africa, the Middle East, the Far East and the Caribbean, managed by the World Bank, the United Nations Development Program, the International Monetary Fund, and Canadian and United States International Aid organizations. He also worked for various federal government departments, taking early retirement in 1992. After retirement, he continued to offer his expertise as a consultant.

Guy loved to travel, and he and Louise spent many happy years wintering in Portugal and then Florida, as well as visiting countries across Europe. A man of strong opinions, he enjoyed wagering on sports, politics, the weather, anything really. He liked to drive his tractor and developed a Floridian’s love for a Cadillac. We will miss him.

Né à Ottawa de feu Rosita et Eugène Landriault, Il fut précédé dans la mort par ses frères Raymond et Pierre, ainsi que par sa belle-sœur Raymonde et son beau-frère Louis Brazeau. Guy laisse dans le deuil ses sœurs Madeleine (Logan), Diane (Brazeau), Louise (Stout), Suzanne (Richard Rho), son frère Claude (Lucille), ainsi que de nombreux amis à Ottawa, au Portugal et en Floride. Guy était membre à vie de l'Institut canadien-français d'Ottawa.

Au cours de sa longue carrière dans la fonction publique, il a notamment été diplomate auprès de l'Office de secours et de travaux des Nations Unies pour les réfugiés de Palestine dans le Proche-Orient (UNRWA) de 1981 à 1984. Il a également collaboré à plusieurs projets d'administration publique dans des pays en développement d'Afrique, du Moyen-Orient, d'Extrême-Orient et des Caraïbes, gérés par la Banque mondiale, le Programme des Nations Unies pour le développement, le Fonds monétaire international et des organisations d'aide internationale canadiennes et américaines. Il a également travaillé pour divers ministères fédéraux, prenant une retraite anticipée en 1992. Après sa retraite, il a continué à offrir son expertise en tant que consultant.

Guy adorait voyager et Louise et lui ont passé de nombreuses années heureuses à hiverner au Portugal, puis en Floride, et à visiter des pays à travers l'Europe. Homme aux opinions bien arrêtées, il aimait parier sur le sport, la politique, la météo, bref, sur tout. Il aimait conduire son tracteur et a développé une passion typiquement floridienne pour les Cadillac. Il nous manquera.

Au lieu de fleurs, des dons peuvent être faits à l'hospice May Court.
