John William Redmond "Bill"

Born June 2, 1925 in Halifax , N.S to Madeline and John Redmond. Died peacefully on July 6, 2016, at the glorious age of 91 years, surrounded by the pride of his life his wife Shirley and his four daughters: Judi (Ron Sarginson) , Pat ( Bruce Irving), Linda ( Ed Riley) and Barbara ( Dennis Jonathan). Bill was a friend to so many, a fun- loving "Papa" to his grandchildren Krista, Alison, Colin, Craig, Michael, and Paul and to his ten great- grandchildren Lochlan and Eleanor Geraghty ; Seth and Carly Coates; Alec and Bradley Irving; Emma and Lauren Riley; and Gus and Mae Riley . Bill leaves behind his dear sisters: Betty O'Brien, Margaret Anne Edmunds, and Carolyn MacIntosh and his brother Jack Redmond (Anne) . He was predeceased by his brother and sister-in-law Dunc and Rita, his sister Helen and her husband Ray Smith, as well as by his brother Carl. A doting uncle to his many nieces and nephews, Bill will be sadly missed by them and by his sister-in-law Joyce Brown,. Bill enjoyed success in two life careers serving in the military and then in Sears management., bringing to both a remarkable dedication and principled leadership. The family will receive friends on Monday, July 11, 2016 at Resurrection of Our Lord Church, 1940 Saunderson Drive, after 10:30 am followed by a Memorial Mass at 11 am. Interment Hope Cemetery. Bill has supported many charities himself and has a special allegiance to the Kidney Foundation of Canada; a donation in his memory would be appreciated.
