Jerry was born on March 6, 1923 in Greely, Ontario to Aloysius and Anastacia (Horan) Herbert. He served in the Air Force during WWII as a member of the Porcupine Squadron #433. He graduated from the University of Toronto in 1951 and following that he was a Pharmacist and business owner until he retired at age 73.
Our memories will be treasured now as each of us have had our own unique experiences with him. Jerry wore many hats during his lifetime: husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, pharmacist, carpenter, bee keeper, farmer, gardener and caregiver. He was generous and supportive. Jerry enjoyed playing many different card games, as well as listening to Aloysius and Isobel play in their band. He especially loved family get-togethers and all the busy-ness of preparing for meals and enjoying each other’s company.
We feel fortunate and blessed to have had him in our lives. He was a great man. His infectious smile will be forever remembered as well as his kind and compassionate spirit.
The family wishes to sincerely thank the nursing staff of the Perley and Rideau Veterans’ Health Centre, who were untiring in providing outstanding care.
