Leonardo Cabral De Melo

He was a devoted and loving husband to Fatima for almost 57 years, loving father to Bella (John) and Denise (Nick). He was a proud vovô to Christina, Nicholas and Denika.

Born on September 18, 1943 in São Miguel Azores, he came to Canada in his twenties where he worked very hard as a bricklayer to provide a good life for his wife and girls. He also worked numerous weekends and was proud to help build this Portuguese Church, Senhor Santo Cristo Parish.

He was preceded in death by his parents Julio De Melo and Alice Cabral, and his brother João Luis Botelho.

He was the brother of Zelia and Nicolau and leaves behind many sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. He will be fondly remembered as a beloved uncle and godfather to his many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will take place on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at McEvoy-Shields Funeral Home, 1411 Hunt Club Road, Ottawa, ON. A funeral service will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Senhor Santo Cristo Parish, 1100 Kenaston Street.
