Father Lomer is spending Christmas in heaven this year surrounded by his loving parents, two brothers and a sister so dear. Some parishioners in Gatineau were missing a talented priest from saying their Christmas Mass and listing to his sermon of Peace. He was blessed with a special gift of preaching with Love and now he is singing from his heavenly home above. 
For forty years he stood at the altar of Love and celebrated his Mass as he always knew he would. He is in heaven now singing loud and clear and praying to God that we all can hear.
I know what Lomer would say if he knew I wrote this about him, Shirley, you've always stood by me right to the end.
Rest in peace Lomer.

I always enjoyed conversations with Father when he helped out at Our Lady of Fatima Parish and at funeral services.

From about 1978 to 1983 I was an altar girl at St Aloyisius church in Gatineau. I have such fond memories of my time serving mass with Father Lomer.  He was always lovely to be with.

I met Fr Lomer when I was secretary at the Cantley parish. It was always pleasant and interesting to talk with him. And he was always available. I know that he has been sick for many years. I hope we didn't cause him any inconvenience.

I met Father Lomer when I was in Grade 1 at St. Michael's Elementary School in Low.  We arrived together one day at the water fountain.  He towered over me.  I think he was in Grade 7.
I met Father Lomer through the years at various events. He was a kind and gentle man.
At my mother's funeral, Father Lomer celebrated the Mass and gave my mother a delightful tribute. With his stories of Mom and him, he brought smiles to my family.
I treasure my memories of Father Lomer.

My deepest sympathy in the loss of your dear Brother, Father Lomer. He was the rock of so many people and the love and healing he bestowed on everyone near and far can never be measured. He always enjoyed having a good time with family, friends and acquantices alike. He never judged and was always just a phone call away.  He fulfilled his childhood dream of being a priest and no one took the Ministry more seriously than he. Father Lomer was a friend to everyone who had the good fortune of knowing him or crossing his path. He has left a huge void which no one will ever fill. We know that he is reunited with family in heaven and that they were there to great him and now they are the fortunate one's to be reunited and never to part ways again.

Here is just one example: When we notified Shannon, a close friend of the family of Father's passing we were informed that Shannon was in the hospital waiting on a Lung transplant. She is no longer grocery shopping but still writes on her list to buy Father Lomer's cookies. (a.k.a. Oreos). It has been 36 years since Shannon and Father sat around our kitchen table eating Oreos.
