It is with heavy hearts the family of Norma Coleman announce her peaceful passing on Saturday, August 7, 2021 in her 93rd year. Born on September 16, 1928 in Tignish PEI, Norma was the youngest in a lively and close knit family of 17 children born to the late Hon Joseph and Zoe Bernard.
Norma graduated from the Charlottetown Hospital School of Nursing as an R.N. in 1949 and joined the Royal Canadian Navy in 1950 as nurse Sub-Lieutenant. During her time in the navy, she met her beloved husband, Dr. W. Roy Coleman, KStJ, CD, MD (Col (ret'd), CFMS) and left the navy in 1962 to marry and start a family.
She was the loving mother of three children: Marie (Gerry Scott), Bill (Christina) and Susan (Mark Ronan), the cherished grandmother of Sarah Lethbridge (Mat De Vries), Laura and Christopher Scott, Roy and Leo Coleman, and proud great-grandmother of Micheal De Vries. She is predeceased by her beloved husband Roy (2002) and all her siblings. She will be greatly missed by many nieces and nephews.
While our hearts hurt, we are left with enduring memories of a beautiful woman who provided us with a lifetime of love and laughter and an example of a life well lived.
She is now reunited with so many dear family and friends and heaven no doubt has a rollicking rendez-vous underway.
The family will receive relatives and friends at McEvoy-Shields Funeral Home, 1411 Hunt Club Road (at Albion Road) on Thursday August 12, 2021 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m..
