We miss his smile already. Miles Thomas McElrone, 84, died peacefully on October 14, 2014 at May Court Hospice, surrounded by the family he loved and cared for every day of his life. Survived by his loving wife of 54 years Phyllis (nee Zbikowski), daughters Cheryl (Richard Logue), Anne-Marie (Michael MacDonald), Janet (Graham Drainer), sister Mary Burke of Montreal, grandchildren Amanda, Taylor, Ryan and Euan and his best canine friend, Buddy.
Raised in Montreal by a close-knit Irish family, Miles made his wife and daughters the centre of his life –and we adored him in return. Those who knew him well will remember him for his steady hand, warm heart, and ever-ready sense of humour.
So many people took such good care of Miles in his last months. Special thanks to caregivers at CCAC, Carefor (especially Ann), level C-4 at the Queensway Carleton Hospital, and the nurses and volunteers at May Court Hospice who helped us say good-bye. A celebration of Miles’ life will be held on Thursday, October 16 at 11 am at St. Patrick’s Church, Fallowfield, 15 Steeple Hill Cres., Nepean. Reception to follow in the church hall at noon.
