Paul ‘Jimmy” James Vorobej, 92, of Ottawa passed away peacefully on May 9th with his dedicated and loving wife of 60 years, Eleonora Vorobej, by his side. Jimmy was born on July 12, 1929 in the Ukraine and came to Canada with his family as a young man. He was an amazing man who saw nothing as impossible and lived an extraordinary life, with too many triumphs, quests, and accomplishments to list.
To say that Jimmy made a beautiful life in Canada would be an understatement. In 1962 he met Eleonora and this unstoppable team went on to have 4 children, Nadya (Rick), Paul, Anndrea (Rick), Nicholas (Jennie) and 9 grandchildren; Nicholas (Ann), Anya, Tasha, Josh (Sarah), Katya (Josh), Paul, James, Quinn and Petra.
Jimmy touched so many people in different ways, as a husband, a father, a grandfather, an entrepreneur, a coach, a developer, a farmer, a friend and so much more. He was a master with the trimming shears, both at his hair salon, ‘Jimmy’s’, and around the community he created at Big Crosby Lake. His stoic, tenacious and kind nature will be missed by admirers that span generations, and the dignity and honour he lived his life with will forever be an inspiration to those who knew him.
Jimmy’s absence will be felt by us all. Panachyda and Visitation will be held at Christ the Saviour Orthodox Church (721 Somerset St. W., Ottawa, ON., K1R 6P7) on Monday May, 16, 2022 at 5:30 p.m. On Tuesday May 17, 2022. A funeral service will be held at Christ the Saviour Orthodox Church at 10 a.m. Immediately following the services at Church, Burial will take place at Holy Trinity Bukovynian Cemetery (1890 Merivale Rd. Ottawa, ON., K2G 1E6). In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Christ the Saviour Orthodox Church, an organization that Jimmy felt strongly about.
