Passed away at the Ottawa General Hospital on May 30th 2015 at the age of 79 with family members by his side, after a long battle with cancer. Peter was the son of the late George and the late Hannah DeGeer. He leaves in sorrow his loving wife Lynea Roman DeGeer, cherished son Travis and dear daughters Patsy and Debra, his former wife Lorraine, as well as his adored grandchildren Simon, Robert and Emily. He is also survived by his brother Don (Joan) and his sisters Grace (Bob), Mary (Bill), Anna, Ada (David), Shirley (Bruce) and Dorothi. He also leaves many nieces, nephews, his mother-in-law Barbara Roman and his in-laws Milton and Tambic. He was predeceased by his sister Vera (Herman) and his brother George (Mae).
As a young man, Peter served in the Canadian Army and fought briefly in the Korean War. Later, Peter’s work with ABEX and FENCO in the automotive business gave him a long and successful career in sales and took him far afield in Ontario and Quebec. His devotion to his job garnered him awards for superior work and instilled in him a sense of pride he so rightly deserved. His hard work earned him the respect of his colleagues and friends.
Peter loved the lakes and rivers of this province and travelled with his fishing rod at hand, always coming home with fish to share.
He will be greatly missed by family and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday June 13, 2015 at 12:45 p.m. at Nepean Baptist Church (135 Woodfield Drive, Nepean, ON K2G 0A1).
