Pierre Cyr, 82, died March 7, 2026, at the Queensway Carleton Hospital. He is survived by his daughter Natalie Cyr, his wife Linda Lobretto-Cyr and stepfamily Andrea Fowler (Mark Robinson), Melissa Fowler (Elyas Khan), grandchildren Ben Robinson and Emily Robinson. He will be missed by them as well as by relatives and friends.
He is predeceased by his mother, Aline Lalonde (née LeBlanc), father Fernand Cyr, brother John Cyr and ex-wife, Patricia Dunigan.
A professional photographer, Pierre owned a studio in downtown Ottawa where he specialized in portraiture before embarking on a seventeen-year career as a photographer at Carleton University. There he photographed and printed everything from insects for the biology department, to parts developed by the engineering faculty, to graduation photos and photos for the university paper, “This Week at Carleton”.
Post career, Pierre worked at a variety of jobs including as a CNC programmer, Commissionaire (Parliament Precinct) and even weekend security for his condo building. He was also one of the volunteer staff at his condo library. His hobby was retouching photos using Photoshop and other software.
A “people person”, Pierre loved catching up daily with the community at his local pubs and through visits with his many friends and family in Ottawa, Gatineau, and Florida.
Fond of travel and adventure, he and Linda visited many cities in the U.S., Canada and Europe, collecting memories and friends along the way.
The Cyr family wishes to thank the staff at Peter D. Clark for taking such good care of Pierre during his stay there.
A private memorial will be held at a later date.
