Rita Cox

It is with great sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of our cherished mother on Sunday October 9, 2011. Rita was the beloved wife of the late Lorne Cox (1974). Loving and devoted mother of Colleen (Michael Allen), Leo, Lorraine (Reginald Barr), Patrick, Shaun and Debbie (Hugh Lindley). Dear grandmother of Greg Barr (Christina), Jeff Allen (Beth), Jennifer (Scott Dall), Patricia (Ben Chartrand), Christina Allen and Corey Rafuse and great-grandmother of eight. Predeceased by her brothers Llewellyn, Emmett and Lawrence. She leaves her sister-in-law Pauline Cullen and the sister she never had and dear friend Zita Patenaude, also remembered by many nieces and nephews. Special thanks to Dr. Jennifer Yau and the staff at the Ravines Retirement Residence. The family will receive friends at McEvoy-Shields Funeral Home, 1411 Hunt Club Road (at Albion Road) on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of the Visitation Church, 5338 Bank Street South. Inurnment to follow at Pinecrest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers an expression of sympathy to Youville Centre Ottawa would be appreciated.
