Rose Cmikiewicz

July 12, 1912 - February 8, 2015

With grieving hearts, we mourn the passing of our beloved, beautiful Rosie. After 102 years and surrounded by love and devotion, our Rose finally gave up her fight, following a brief illness, and peacefully slipped away from us on a river of tears. The matriarch of our family, we mourn the loss of this proud, strong, independent, unsinkable, caring, respected and admired lovely lady. She was the cherished mother of Betty Poaps (Douglas), Tom (Marlene) and Lois Raczkowski (late Joseph). Grandma Rosie was the well-loved grandmother of Jennifer Anderson, Kim Luinstra, Greg and Jeff MacGregor, Michael and Megan Poaps, Connie Vanderhart, the late Susan Dawson, Bruce and Jeff Cmikiewicz, John and David Raczkowski, and Patricia Cuti. Her sunshine was her mini-me, little great-granddaughter, Rosie MacGregor. In total, thirteen grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren are part of her legacy and she loved being in the company of any of them whenever she could. She was the eldest of eight children and leaves behind only her youngest brother, Peter Tallyhoe, with her parents Dora and George, husband Albin, and siblings Michael, John, Anne, Mary, Soph and Edna having long gone on to meet her. The family sends special thanks to her long-time friend, Ada Scott, Wavnye, Gail and Delores and her caring Personal Support Worker of many years, Rachel. All of you made her happy and feeling special. Our Rose loved flowers. In her memory, please give a rose to someone special in your life. Family and friends are invited to pay respects on Monday, February 16th, 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm. at McEvoy-Shields Funeral Home 1411 Hunt Club at Albion Road. Funeral Service in the chapel on Tuesday, February 17th, at 11:00 a.m.
