

Roy Thomas de Rosenroll (born March 26, 1992), beloved son of Carolyn Broadhurst and Stephen de Rosenroll, passed away peacefully at the age 31 on February 18, 2024 in Toronto. Roy is survived by his mother, Carolyn, and his sister, Caitlin de Rosenroll; and predeceased by his father, Stephen (2014). He will be dearly missed by his grandmother, Eileen de Rosenroll; his uncles, James (Karen), John (Niamh), Peter de Rosenroll, and David Broadhurst; and aunts, Lesley Broadhurst (Harry) and Jennifer Malcolm; as well as cousins, Kelly, Colin, Taylor, Diana, Meibh, Lindsay, and Andrew.
Roy was born and raised in Ottawa. He attended Dunlop Public School, Featherston Public School and Canterbury High School. Roy was a very energetic child, with interests in sports, art, and music. At ages 10-12 , Roy enjoyed musical theatre and appeared in performances presented by Suzart and Orpheus Productions. His outgoing and fun loving personality won him many friends.
While at Canterbury, he played percussion in the concert band. Later on, he discovered a passion for visual arts, especially drawing and painting. After high school, was accepted into Concordia University Fine Arts program. While in Montreal, Roy worked for a few years as a house painter, and carpenter. After he returned to Ottawa, he enrolled in the Building and Construction program at Algonquin College. Meanwhile, he applied his artistic gift by painting many pictures and canvases.
Unfortunately, his once happy life became interrupted and tormented by serious struggles with mental illness. Roy will be remembered for his exuberance, creativity, friendliness, and his gentle, sensitive heart.
