Eulogy:By Solange Lecot(Granddaughter)
I would like to begin by thanking you all for being here, today. I'd like to say a few words about Therese Maheux, «ma grand-maman ».
She was born in Ottawa, March 20th 1936. She grew up on Hochelaga street with her parents, her sister Claudette and the big Paquette family. On September 1st 1958, she married Allen Maheux with whom she raised three children Michel Rachelle and Luc.
She was a devoted mother, who you could ask for advises without been pressured or judged.
They owned a cottage in St-André-Avellin where she loved to drive the lawn tractor and to smoke a cigaret in the gaziboo with Lise.
She was a loving Grand-mother of five: Olivier, yours truly, Solange, Nicholas, Alexander and Leah. She cooked our favourite meals when we came over. She enjoyed watching us climbing the tree in front of her house. She always had a diet pepsi laying aroud for us to sip in and plenty goodies hidden throughout the house.
When dropping in. You were always welcome by a loud « YÉÉÉÉÉ », a kiss on both cheeks and a big hug. You could see how proud she was by the many family pictures and how she spoke of her many family members and friend's accomplishments whether big or small. Through her, many of you knew us and we also got to know you.
You could always count on her, wheter just for a simple phone call or during difficult time.
Throughout her life, she volunteered by being involved in many social Clubs where some of you had a chance to meet and work with her!
She was passionate bowler.
You all know and could reconnize when she was in the room by her laugh
She was always on the road and surprisingly, managed to keep a flawless driving record,
even though she never wore her seat belt,
even though she got pulled over for having a Bingo licence plate over her Ontario plate or on another occasion for speeding when she was coming to pick me up at the dentist.
Finally madame Maheux, Thérèse, Theresa, Terry, Mom, little granny, Grand-man, you'll be missed for your hugs, your constant smile, but mostly, for the way you always made us feel welcome and appreciated.
Thank you for been there with us,
Your family who loves you.
