

Catalino Austria Giron, Sr., beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away with his family by his side on Dec. 12, 2011. He was one of six children born to the late Gavino and Maxima Giron, on April 30 1918, and was the beloved husband of Conchita Alcazar Giron for 53 years.
Tatay (Tagalog for "father") will forever be remembered by his loving sisters, Helen Baza and Simfronia Giron; beloved children, Angelina Lavey, Cristina (Greg) Ignacio, Maxima (Constant) Castillo, Daniel (Mila) Giron, Catalino (Ining) Giron, Jr., Emilio (Gina) Giron, Jaime Giron, Ma Elena (Armin) Medina, Antonio (Michelle) Giron; treasured grandchildren, Claire (Jonathan) Hogue, Christopher Ignacio, Mark (Isah Cristine) Castillo, Daphne Clemen Castillo, Audrey Castillo, Avon Pearl (Wendell) Punongbayan, Danielle Angela Giron, Jade Marielle Giron, Aaron Miguel Giron, Juan Paulo Ibanez, Rafael Jose Ibanez, Diana Carmela Ibanez, Patricia Julia Ibanez, Juliana Giron, Raemil Giron, Ryan Jay Giron, Samantha Gabrielle Medina, Zachary James Medina, Mikhaila Antoinette Giron, Lorenz Anthony Giron, and Matthew Edward Giron; precious great-grandson, Riley Hogue; son-in-law, Wilfredo Ibanez; caring in-laws, Roger and Matea Cagakit, Alberto and Luzviminda Medina, Jeremias and Prudencia Mayola, Mrs. Daniel Mojica, Mrs. Yolanda Jamon Castillo; along with countless other friends and family who were blessed to know him.
Tatay loved fishing, boxing, reading, being with his family, especially with his grandchildren. Tatay touched the lives of many people with his honesty and generosity, and maintained his refreshing no-nonsense approach to life which remained intact to the end. His children are so fortunate and blessed to have been raised by a very honest, hard-working, responsible, humble man, who along with Nanay (late wife Conchita) strongly believed that every one of their children deserved an education-and made it happen. Tatay will be greatly missed by his family and loved ones.
Tatay was preceded in death by his wife, Conchita Alcazar Giron; daughter, Carmen Giron Ibanez; and grandson, Aaron Daniel Giron.
The visitation/viewing will be from 3 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 17, at Funeraria Del Angel Conrad's & James Reardon Mortuary, located at 401 W. Channel Islands Blvd., Oxnard, CA 93033. The interment will be at 10 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 18, at the Ivy Lawn Memorial Park, located at 5400 Valentine Rd., Ventura, CA 93003.
