Catherine Humphrey

Catherine Humphrey quietly passed away in her home on Sunday, March 11, 2012, at 10:15 p.m., surrounded by her family and friends. She was 94 years old and a longtime resident of Oxnard and well known throughout the county of Ventura.

Catherine was preceded in death by her husband, John A. Humphrey, Sr., her three sons, Robert E. Drake, Sr., John A. Humphrey, Jr., and Charles M. Humphrey, and a grandson, Kenneth Wells, all of Oxnard; a granddaughter, Sonjia Mohr of Cantonment, Fla.; and a great-grandson, Ahmari Kouassi, also of Oxnard.

She leaves behind her brother, Wayman Scott Wells of Oxnard; her sisters-in-law, Dolly Wells of Oxnard and Georgia Parker of Detroit; and a cousin, Elizabeth Tuley of Tacoma, Wash. She also leaves behind her children, Johnny Wells of Amsterdam, the Netherlands, Barbara McLaughlin of Oxnard, Mary Henderson of San Marcos, Michelle Grayson of Oxnard, Janetta Moore-Smith of Lemon Grove, Andrew Humphrey of Desert Hot Springs, and Maretta Humphrey of Oxnard; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, 21 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and 32 great-great-grandchildren.

The viewing for Catherine Humphrey will be from 12 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 22, and a family only viewing from 8 to 9:30 a.m. with services to follow at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 23, at Funeraria Del Angel Conrad's and James Reardon Mortuary, with the interment to follow at Conejo Mountain Memorial Park where she will be placed beside her husband John and her three sons, Robert, John Jr. and Charles.
