James was born on June 27, 1967 in Ventura, California to Jaime Reyes and Mary Jessie Garcia (Reyes). He was a lifelong resident of Oxnard but had lived in Las Vegas for the past 2 years, where he enjoyed the nightlife.
For several years, James worked at Procter & Gamble, 3M, and HAAS Automation as a machine operator and forklift driver.
James loved the outdoors. He enjoyed going to the beach, taking rides to Malibu "Rock", listening to music and dancing. He was a big Cowboys fan and had a love of animals. He especially loved his fur babies, King and Ace, and his fur grandchild, Caine. For several years, James coached Little League Baseball. He was also an excellent chess player and in his younger days, he ran track.
Some of James' proudest moments were the birth of his children, especially the birth of his only daughter, Jazmin. He was also proud when he purchased his first home and his Mercedes Benz.
What made James special was his ability o connect with people no matter where he was. He made lifelong friends wherever he went. He was caring and had a big heart. James had a love for music, it did not matter what type it was, he would find the rhythm and make it his own. He could dance to anything, bringing jot and laughter to those around him. James will be remembered for his hearty laugh, a sound that could fill the room, a laugh that will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
James is survived by his six children: James Joseph, James Jr, Justin, Ryan, Jazmin, and Andrew; his mother Mary Reyes; his sisters Elizabeth, Corinna, Gema, and Ana; bothers Jessie (Chuy), Hector, Tony, and Alex; 13 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, and a large extended family. He will be remembered for his love of dance, kind heart, the love he had for family, and his joy for life.
James was preceded in death by his father Jaime Reyes; grandmother Antonia Villanueva; uncle Benjamin Garcia, and cousin Candice Rea.
James' family would like to thank everyone who offered their love, support, and comfort during this difficult time.
