Josephine Munoz Ortega

A Daughter, A Sister, A Wife and A Mother

On Sept. 10, 2011 Josephine Munoz Ortega peacefully joined our beloved creator. She fought cancer for 12 yrs. To her family and friends Josephine was a fighter.

She was a loving and kind person who dealt with difficult circumstances in life. She was born and raised in Manila, Philippines on Nov. 13, 1934 and she grew up with 5 sisters; Pilar Sorel of Woonsocket, Rhode Island, Barbara Calong Calong of Manila, Elizabeth & Leonardo Ignacio of Oxnard, CA, Antonia Munoz of Pasig, Lourdes & Angel Reyes of Spokane, Washington.

Preceded in death by: Parents Andres and Josephine Munoz, her four brothers Alberto, Benjamin, Andres and Antonio, and her two sons Sonny and Sante.

She liked to sing, dance and cook for the family. She was blessed with 7 Children and 16 Grandchildren and 3 Great Grandchildren.

Josephine’s memory lives on with her daughter Josenita and son-in-law Leonard, 4 sons and daughters-in-law, Nonoy and Divina, Santi (Clet) and Zeny, Santi (Baby) and Mary Ann, Boboy and Edna.

Viewing will be held from 3-9p.m. with a Rosary beginning at 7pm on Wednesday Sept. 14, 2011 at Funeraria Del Angel Conrad’s & James Reardon, 401 W. Channel Islands Blvd, Oxnard, CA 93033. Mass will be held 9am on September 15, 2011 at Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 463 W. Pleasant Valley Rd. Oxnard, CA 93033.

She stayed at Shoreline Care Center and we thank their staff for taking care of her with VITAS, and VCMC Oncology Clinic.

Josephine was loved by her family and friends and she will be greatly missed.
