

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, October 13, 2013, from the chapel of Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Littlefield officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens with Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be Sunday at 1:30 p.m. until service time at Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home.
Mr. Vickers was born February 1, 1927 in Gordon, Alabama, son of the late Tolbert and Lillie Morgan Vickers. In 1952 Doc went to work in the neon sign business and retired in 2000 as owner of Vickers Neon Signs where he was well known as a professional neon tube bender. He was a longtime member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mamie Sue Vickers; and step-grandson, Anthony Miller.
Survivors include his son, Stan Vickers, Ozark, AL; daughter, Kathy Vickers McLaney, Dothan, AL; sister, Kathryn Childree, Pensacola, FL; two grandsons: Bryan Scott Whiddon (Chanda), Rehobeth, AL, and Christopher Vickers, Ozark, AL; three great-grandchilden: Chaney, Tyler and Logan Whiddon; two step-sons: Casey Miller (Joanne) of Echo, AL, and Rex Miller of Montgomery, AL; step-granddaughter, Jana Miller Johnson (Ricky), Echo, AL; and two step-great-granddaughters: KayLee Madison and Rachel Anne Johnson.
