Sue M. Benner

A memorial service for Sue will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at Living Grace Lutheran Church with Rev. Dr. David Hardy officiating. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 10:00am until time of the service. There will also be a reception to follow the memorial service for family and friends at the church.

Sue was born November 12, 1940 in Bacon County, Georgia. She was an active member of Living Grace Lutheran Church and was a long-time Chair of the Community Outreach Committee. Sue participated in the sewing and quilting groups, the Gas Cards for Foster Families Annual Campaign and the Women's Prison Ministry program. She was also a dedicated member on the boards of NETWorks Cooperative Ministry and the Shearith Israel Night Shelter for Women. She also served as Keywoman for Church Women United and served in numerous capacities for the Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Sue was also a retired Broker for Northside Realty and in addition to her professional accomplishments, she was an avaricious reader of all types of literature; she was especially fond of stories featuring mystery and intrigue. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to all members of her immediate and extended families, she particularly enjoyed celebrating special occasions with family and friends at her home. Her love, her compassion, her tenacity, her dedication, insightfulness and integrity were shared with all in an open and effusive way that provided others hope, direction and wisdom that will be carried by them for a lifetime.

Sue is survived by her husband of 45 years, David Benner; her daughters, Veronica Rumble and her husband Bill, Cindy Phillips and her husband Jerry; her son, Franklin Benner and his wife Sheree; also surviving are her four grandchildren, two great-grandsons and many loving nieces, nephews and extended family members.
