Adalia Medina Baisa was born on May 5, 1933, the 2nd of the 6 daughters of Gaudencio Medina, a physician surgeon and former town mayor of Calatagan, Batangas, Philippines and Aquilina Antonia Medina, a loving housewife. They belonged to a prominent family and lived comfortably until the Japanese occupation in the Philippines. Adalia and her siblings grew up through, and survived, the hardships of WWII.
Adalia Baisa worked hard and supported herself in her studies through elementary, high school, and college. She was the first in her family to migrate, work, and establish her life and career in the USA, as a leader in the field of Nutrition in prestigious hospitals. Upon retiring, she continued to support and inspire her entire family and friends. She focused on religious activities and community services where she made use of her leadership qualities and prowess to make a difference in the lives of others.
She was loving, caring, smart, very supportive, hardworking , true to her words, very dependable, and there is just so many adjectives to describe her. She found great happiness and satisfaction in helping others, never expecting anything in return.
She was very special to her nephews and nieces, grand nephews and grand nieces, her siblings, her relatives and her friends.
We are so blessed to have had her in our family. She would always think of her family first. She was so loved and respected by everyone! Adalia helped her family every chance she could get, whether financially or in personal efforts, all contributing towards helping them achieve their educational and professional goals. Everyone looked up to her as an epitome of faith, hope, courage and love.
She was a strong proponent of determination, perseverance, resilience and strength in prayers and faith. Adalia lived a long, meaningful, productive, and purpose-driven life. She believed that life did not revolve around her, but rather she moved around life, that she was in control through God’s blessings and guidance. Until the end she demonstrated that she was the master of her fate and the captain of her soul.
She was truly one of a kind and we pray that God, in His infinite mercy and love, will continue to bless her, and welcome her home to heaven where she truly belongs.
