

Arlene E. Fitzgerald Cox, age 92, passed away in Melbourne, FL on 3/12/25. She was the daughter of Lloyd and Hazel Esancy Fitzgerald of South China, Maine, both deceased. She graduated from Erskine Academy in South China, Maine in 1950.
On April 19, 1957, she married Kenneth R. Cox from Middletown, NY and they enjoyed 54 wonderful years together.
Arlene retired from Star Expansion Company in Mountainville, NY after 26 years on June 30, 1988.
She and her husband, Kenneth, now deceased, enjoyed traveling full time in their RV for 17 years, seeing all 50 states, the last being Alaska in 2007 shortly after their 50th anniversary. They then settled down In West Melbourne, FL.
She is survived by her sister-in-law, Shirley Fitzgerald of South China, Maine, three of her five children, Steven Cox of Sanford, ME, Wayne Cox of Oxford, ME, and Darlene Taylor and husband, Jerry of Melbourne, FL. Her sons Leslie H Cox of Melbourne, FL, and Kenneth Cox Jr. of Pine Bush, NY sadly preceded her in death. She has many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews that she enjoyed visiting with in hers and Kenneth’s travels and loved with all her heart.
She thankfully spent the last couple of years with her son, Leslie Cox, and Felicia Smith-Cox, residing with her and taking amazing care of her. She happily described it as “assisted living at home”. She passed peacefully at home with loved ones with her.
Arlene requested that there be no funeral service, and that people may make a donation in memory of her to any of the following charities she supported:
