It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Catherine R. Hawk, who left us peacefully at her home on 08/28/2024 at the remarkable age of 100. Born on August 15, 1924, in Clyde, Ohio, Catherine was the beloved daughter of the late Myron T. and Estella M. (Adamski) Hoffman.
On June 22, 1946, Catherine married the love of her life, Bernard E. Hawk. Together, they embarked on a journey that spanned over half a century, filled with love, laughter, and countless adventures. For 26 years, Catherine supported Bernard through 20 moves during his service in the Air Force, embodying resilience and grace. Even after Bernard's military career ended, Catherine stood by his side as he began a new chapter in the school system, proving that her strength and devotion were boundless.
After 55 beautiful years of marriage, Catherine lost her beloved Bernie in March 2001. Despite the loss, she often spoke of how wonderful their life together had been—traveling the world and raising their family were among her greatest joys.
Catherine was a woman of simple pleasures, finding happiness in the company of loved ones, the excitement of a good game of cards, the thrill of bingo, and the spin of a slot machine. Her life was a testament to the power of faith; she held the teachings of the Catholic Church close to her heart and believed deeply in the power of prayer and the presence of God in her life.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. Catherine is survived by her son, Thomas; daughters Susan (Gary), Patty (Bernie), Tina (Doug), and Rosemary; and her grandchildren, BJ, Barry, Richard, Robert, Nicole, Sean, JD, Kathy, and Thomas. Her nine great-grandchildren will also carry forward the love and wisdom she imparted to them.
Catherine was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Bernard, her sons Bobby and Bill, and ten siblings, who no doubt welcomed her with open arms as she joined them in eternal peace.
A natural storyteller, Catherine delighted in sharing memories of "the old days"—recounting stories of her family, life on the farm, and the simple, yet profound joys that made her days so rich. Her legacy is one of unwavering faith, boundless love, and a life beautifully lived.
She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her love and wisdom will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. Catherine's life was a true blessing, and her memory will be cherished forever.
