Curtis "Pops" Lynn Church

On Jan 30, 2025, Curtis Lynn Church passed away peacefully at the age of 85. Son of Hubert Lee Church and Arra Hyder, he is survived by Constance (Kovach) Church, his wife of 63 years, his four children Curtis Church Jr. (Lisa), Theresa Moriarty, David Church (Nanette) and Joseph Church (Jen). Curt was “Pops” to his 14 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren, who were the light of his life. He is also survived by siblings Joe Church (Kim deceased), Cylene Sisk, Bobby Church (Pat), Linda (Gourley), and Sammy Garland. Previously deceased siblings included Richard Church, Henry Church (Cheryl), Carolyn Kerley, and Walter Church.

Curt grew up in Johnson City, Tennessee, TN, raised his family in Landover Hills, MD, and retired in Palm Bay, FL. A graduate from La Plata high school, he joined the National Guard in Maryland, and then the US Army during the Korean War from 1957- 1960, working as an airplane mechanic. Following his military years, Curt enjoyed a long, successful career at Pepco, starting as an electrician, working his way up into management as an overhead linesman foreman.

Known as “Pops” to most of his immediate family, Curt was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather, who enjoyed nothing more than playing with his great grandchildren. In his younger years he enjoyed boating, fishing, and years supporting Landover Hills Boys Club, coaching football, winning “Man of the Year” multiple years, member of Executive Leadership Board, working as a volunteer for decades. A wonderful man in every sense of the word, we will miss him dearly.

A visitation for Pops will be held Wednesday, February 12, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Fountainhead Memorial Funeral Home, 7359 Babcock Street SE, Palm Bay, FL 32909. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, February 12, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, 7359 Babcock Street SE, Palm Bay, FL 32909. A committal will occur Wednesday, February 12, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at Fountainhead Memorial Park, 7303 Babcock St SE, Palm Bay, FL 32909.
