September 8, 1932- January 3, 2024
On this somber day we bid farewell to Dave Moyer, of Melbourne, FL, whose ninety-one-year journey on earth was a testament to faith, love and unwavering devotion to family. Throughout his life, Dave’s commitment to love and family was evident in his sixty-eight-year marriage to his beloved wife, Thelma. Their union was a source of inspiration, weathering life’s storms and celebrating its joys together. They created a legacy of enduring love that will continue to resonate through the generations. As a dedicated father of four, Dave’s love, guidance, and sense of humor shaped the lives of his children, instilling in them the values of faith, integrity, and perseverance. In service to his country, Dave courageously served in the Army during the Korean War, demonstrating not only duty to his nation but also a profound sense of responsibility. Following his military service, he used the G.I. Bill to attend Lafayette College in Easton, Pa. where he earned his BS degree in Electrical Engineering. This began his career as an electrical engineer, which he enjoyed until his retirement.
Beyond his professional achievements, Dave was an avid golfer, relishing the challenge and enjoyment of a walk on the links. He also spent many years in service to his church in many different capacities, usually behind the scenes, steadfastly serving as church financial secretary for thirty years and attending to many facility maintenance tasks. At home and at church, Dave was a “Jack of all Trades” repairing, maintaining, and enhancing whatever had need of it.
Dave was preceded in death by his mother and father, Paul and Verna Moyer, and his half-brother, Jack Lutz. As we mourn the passing of our beloved husband and father, we find comfort in the enduring legacy of love and faith that he leaves behind. May his spirit live on in the hearts of his wife, Thelma, son David, Jr. (Michelle), daughters Kathy Rogers (Steve), Diane Boulware (Parker), Susan Duggan (Chris Bottomley), ten grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, his sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews and the love that binds them all together.
A memorial service will be held at Faith Viera Lutheran Church (5550 Faith Drive, Rockledge, FL) on Saturday, January 6th at 11:00. Dave’s committal service will be at Fountainhead Funeral Home and Memorial Park (7303 Babcock Street SE, Palm Bay, FL) at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, January 8, 2024.
In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Francis Reflections Lifestage Care (Hospice) or to Faith Viera Lutheran Church would be greatly appreciated.
