He was born December 18, 1934 in Greenport. New York to Harold and Dorothy Peterson.
He graduated from Brown University in 1958 with a Civil Engineering Degree. While there, he enrolled in the Marine ROTC program. Upon graduating, he entered the Marine Corp as a Captain. Once he left the Marine Corp, David spent most of his career working for RCA assisting the Space Tracking Program down range on various islands.
David loved his church, The Friendship Fellowship At Pineda, A Unitarian Universalist Congregation and all of the members of his congregation. He volunteered and participated on many committees, but loved the weekly movies the best.
To keep his mind active, David played Sudoku and crossword puzzles. He would read two newspapers every day and stayed on top of world affairs from the network media.
David is survived by his brother, Roland (Lois) Peterson of Waltham, Massachusetts; niece, Beth Peterson of Riverhead, New York; nephews: Dr. Thomas (Dorothy) Peterson of Greeley, Erik Peterson and Bushra Zawaydeh of Windham, New Hampshire, Joshua (Juili) Peterson of Hollis, New Hampshire, and 11 grand nieces and nephews.
Due to the Corona Virus, there will be no services at the funeral home or grave site at this time. Once we have been given the all clear from our government and the churches are allowed to reopen, we will hold a memorial service for David at his Friendship Fellowship church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Friendship Fellowship At Pineda, A Unitarian Universalist Congregation, at: 3115 Friendship Place, Rockledge, Florida 32955.
