Doris Powell, 89, died Friday, October 21, 2011 at Palm Bay Hospital. Doris was born in Somerville, Massachusetts and came to Brevard County from Michigan in 1981. She was active in the churches her husband served during his career as a Pastor for the United Church of Christ. She also enjoyed sewing and quilting.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband Rev. J. Thurston Powell.
She is survived by her sons Robert and Ron and her daughters Rebecca and Ruth. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, November 12, 2011 at Fountainhead Funeral Home in Palm Bay.
In Lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Humane Society.
