Born in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, he was the son of Diego Ortiz and Virginia Ortiz (nee Trilla) who predeceased him. He attended Benjamin Franklin High School and Peirce Junior College in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He served in the United States Air Force and he loved his country. Subsequently, he was employed as a heavy equipment operator and latterly employed as a dance instructor and music disk jockey at the County Line night club and other venues.
He enjoyed dancing and he was a member of the National Rifle Association and enjoyed the shooting sports. He loved God, his family, his neighbors, his friends, and his extensive dance community.
He is survived by his spouse, Connie; his brother, Jimmy; his sister, Ida; his children: Brandon Cole Ortiz, Stacy Lynn Ortiz, and Kim Deavers; and numerous grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
The memorial service will be held at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery at a later date.
