Edward, or as he was affectionately known — Brother — was one of three children born to Edward Mack, Sr. (Pop) and Mollie Brunson (Mother). He moved to New York City at the age of 6, the place where he eventually met his life partner of 63 years: Rebecca (Walker) Mack. They were married on December 25th, 1958, and to this union two children were born.
Edward served honorably in the Air Force, and then went on to a decades-long career with the New York City Transit Authority. He started out as a conductor and eventually became a motorman — a job he truly loved. Indeed, Edward was a life long member of the Transit Club.
Bruner Avenue in the Bronx was his home for 22 years. He established many enduring friendships, and was aptly deemed the "Mayor" of Bruner Avenue. Edward enjoyed playing ping pong, bowling, and watching sports. And he always made sure his cars were kept in pristine condition. But beyond all of his hobbies, being a loving dad and granddad is what Edward enjoyed most.
Importantly, his faith was strong. Edward retired to Palm Bay, Florida with his wife, Rebecca. And they were proud members of St. James Primitive Baptist Church in Mulberry, Florida.
With loving and lasting memories, he will forever be cherished by his family, including his wife: Rebecca; his children: Sharon (Jessup, Maryland) and Michael (Bronx, New York); his two grandsons: Jeorge (Bronx, New York) and Cameron (Washington, D.C.); his two nieces and two nephews: Deborah, Kevin, Rodney and Monique; his only sister: Delores (Melvin - deceased) (Bradenton, Florida); four godchildren: Celestine (Robert), Kenneth (Debbie), Monique (Juan), Dana (Armando); and a host of great nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was predeceased by one brother: Willie Mack.
The funeral service will be held at Fountainhead Memorial Funeral Home at 1 pm on Monday, November 21st. The viewing will be from 12 pm to 1 pm.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.FountainheadFuneralHome.com for the Mack family.
The Mack family would like to thank all the family and friends for their support.
