Eleanor Leesland Bergton of Melbourne, Florida, a 67 year Brevard County resident who loved and enjoyed her family career and life, peacefully departed to Heaven to be with Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ September 7, 2023, at the age of 89. She was born on January 8, 1934 in Queens, New York, to the late Theodore Meidel Leesland and Lisette Emma Knaus Leesland.
Eleanor‘s journey through life was marked by significant milestones and contributions that touched the hearts of those she encountered. She began her education at PS 34 "Harvard" and proudly graduated from Andrew Jackson High School, Cambria Heights/St. Albans, Queen’s, New York and classes from Brown’s Business School in June 1951.
Eleanor‘s career began as a Comptometer Operator with dedicated service to Krieg Baking Company in Jamaica, New York, from June 1951 to August 1956. Eleanor and her husband Herb’s Forever Love Story began on June 7, 1952 when they exchanged vows at Grace Lutheran Church in Queens Village, New York. In 1956 they vacationed in Florida to visit family friends and quickly decided to make the Sunshine State their new home. They purchased their first house in South Patrick Shores, Satellite Beach. Their family began to grow in August 1957 with the birth of their first child.
Her business career began in 1966 when she became a Tupperware Lady, earning numerous awards and achieving the prestigious title of Golden Galaxy Manager. Her warm personality and exceptional salesmanship allowed her to form lifelong friendships and earn company cars for her outstanding sales and recruiting accomplishments. Eleanor‘s natural ability to connect with people and her passion for sales lead her to also sell "Successful Living" Christian books and later she became a Licensed Real Estate Broker as well.
Eleanor was not only known for her professional accomplishments but also for her creative talents. From a very young age she developed a love for crafting. In her early teens she needle tatted and embroidered many beautiful works of art. After the birth of her two daughters, her desire to create things developed into a love for sewing and she made many outfits for herself and for both of them as well. During her retirement years, she enjoyed creating bookmarks, beautiful baskets and little houses made from re-purposed Christmas and greeting cards, for the women’s annual craft sale at Redeemer Lutheran Church. She also gave them with joy in her heart as gifts to anyone she knew or had just met.
Eleanor‘s love language was expressed through gifts, whether they were personal items, homemade creations from her collection, or carefully chosen treasures she found while shopping. Her kindness and thoughtfulness knew no bounds, leaving lasting impressions on the hearts of those who knew her.
Her involvement in the Lutheran Church was a cornerstone of her life. She attended Redeemer Lutheran Church in Melbourne and in 1965 she and her husband were instrumental in the founding of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Satellite Beach where their Christian Fellowship became many lifelong friendships.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 61 years, Herb, and her very devoted daughter Carol. She is survived by her loving children, John, James and Elizabeth, her husband James and Son-in-law Terrence. Eleanor also leaves behind 13 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
