March 28, 1931 – April 23, 2025
Francis “Frank” Gallagher, 94, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2025, with loving family by his side. A proud New Yorker, a devoted public servant, and a man known for his generous heart and bubbly wit, Frank lived a life rooted in integrity, love, and quiet strength.
Born on March 28, 1931, Frank dedicated his life to service. Before beginning his distinguished career as a Detective with the New York City Police Department, Frank proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. His service to the nation shaped his deep sense of duty and responsibility, which he carried with him into his law enforcement career. After returning from the Navy, Frank devoted himself to protecting and serving the people of New York with courage, compassion, and an unwavering sense of justice. Frank’s legacy in law enforcement lives on in the lives he touched, the colleagues he mentored, and the neighborhoods he helped keep safe.
Frank was married to the love of his life, Laura, with whom he shared many cherished years. Their bond was built on love, respect, and a deep connection that transcended time. Their relationship was a testament to devotion, companionship, and unwavering support for each other. Frank and Laura shared countless happy moments, and his life was forever shaped by her love until her passing in 2011. Though Frank was never blessed with children of his own, his family circle, though small, was always filled with love. He was a devoted and loving cousin and uncle—someone who showed up for every celebration, offered wise counsel, and made every family gathering a little warmer just by being there. He took joy in watching the lives of those around him grow and unfold, offering guidance, laughter, and steadfast support.
His bubbly wit was one of his trademarks—light-hearted, clever, and often perfectly timed. Frank could lift a room with just a one-liner or a playful grin, and his laughter was often the soundtrack to family dinners and long conversations.
He is now reunited with his beloved Laura, continuing the love story that never truly ended.
Frank is survived by his loving cousin James—who always regarded Frank more as a big brother—and by his nieces and nephews, who were a constant source of pride and joy in his life. His memory will live on in the many hearts he touched with his kindness, loyalty, and unwavering spirit.
A celebration of Frank’s life will be held on Sunday, April 27, 2025, from 2:00 to 5:00 PM at Fountainhead Funeral Home, 7359 Babcock Street SE, Palm Bay, Florida.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes, 1710 Hickory Street, Melbourne, Florida, on Monday morning at 9:30 AM.
Interment will follow at the South Florida National Cemetery in Wellington, Florida.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the NYC PBA Widows and Children’s Fund, or to a cause close to your heart, in honor of a man who spent his life serving others.
Rest easy, Frank. You served your city, your country, and your family with honor, and your legacy of love, laughter, and friendship will never be forgotten.
You will be deeply missed!
