September 24, 1944 – December 29, 2025
Francis “Bud” Elmer Townsend, 81, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Monday, December 29, 2025, surrounded by love.
Bud was the kind of man who left an impression wherever he went—quietly, genuinely, and without ever asking for recognition.
He was the best friend anyone could hope for, always putting others before himself and never hesitating to help someone in need. He was known for giving the shirt off his back, the last dollar in his pocket, and his time and heart without question.
In 1993, Bud moved to Melbourne, Florida, where he built a life rooted in hard work and community. He spent many years in the restaurant industry, working as a cook, prep hand, and dishwasher, and was proud of the work he did.
He was a familiar face in kitchens throughout Melbourne, Palm Bay, and beachside, including Red Lobster, Frankie’s Wings & Things, and MeMaw’s BBQ. To those he worked with, Bud wasn’t just a coworker—he was family.
One of the many stories that defined Bud’s character was his bravery and selflessness when he rescued two dogs from a neighborhood house fire. It was simply who he was: someone who acted without hesitation when others needed help.
Bud is survived by his loving wife, Jennifer Townsend; his step daughter Heidi Paulsen; his daughter, Emily Gonzalez; his son-in-law, Jose Gonzalez; his cherished granddaughter, Bailey Gonzalez; and his beloved grand pup, Bobby, who Bud proudly considered one of his own children.
Bud will be remembered for his kindness, loyalty, and the steady way he showed up for the people—and animals—he loved. His life was a reminder that goodness doesn’t need to be loud to be powerful.
A life lived for others is a life that never truly ends.
