“Gerry” was born to MaryAnn Duffy and Bruno Gesicki in the Bronx, New York on October 17, 1925. She met Fred Bremen while rollerskating, and the inseparable pair were married on June 22, 1947. Son Fred Jr. was born less than a year later, followed by Tom in 1951. After moving to Florida, a third son, Gary, was born in 1965. The boys were reared in the Miami suburb of Hialeah, and Gerry and Fred moved to Palm Bay, Florida in 1981. They shared over 67 years of love and laughter.
Gerry was a founding parishioner of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, where she volunteered for many years, and was active in the church’s craft guild and “55-and-up” Ministry. She enjoyed all manner of sewing, crocheting, needlework and crafts, reading, and was an active traveler, having visited 49 states and 5 countries. She will be lovingly remembered for her candor, creativity, frugality, sense of humor, and dogged determination in all things.
She is preceded in death by her sweetheart of 67 years, and survived by sons Fred, Tom and Gary, Tom’s wife Jill Kamilar-Bremen, Gary’s fiancé Roger Boone, and much-beloved granddaughter Mandy Lynn Bremen. Gerry also leaves countless friends who visited her often, including Cam Cutrona, Sandy and Bob Siegmann, Rhonda and Mike Guido, and Barbara Broadhurst. The family also wishes to acknowledge the compassionate care provided her at the Life Care Center of Palm Bay and Palm Bay Community Hospital over the past 18 months as Gerry struggled with complications from a broken hip. Their kindness was a source of comfort to all.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at Our Lady of Grace Church, 300 Malabar Road SE, Palm Bay, Florida, followed immediately by a graveside service and reception at Fountainhead Memorial Funeral Home, 7359 Babcock Street SE, Palm Bay, FL 32909. Those attending are invited to wear purple and orange, Gerry’s favorite colors.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Brevard County’s no-kill animal shelter, the Friends for Animals Sanctuary, Inc. Contributions can be made by mail at 5000 N. Wickham Road, Suite 10, Melbourne, FL 32940, or online at FriendsForAnimalsFL.org
