Jim was born on April 12, 1947 in Irvington, New Jersey, but was raised in the Florida Keys and Miami, Florida which formed the foundation of his love for the water. After High School, he joined the US Navy as a Machinist and served in the Vietnam War aboard the USS Brownson. For his service he received the National Defense and Vietnam Service Medal with Bronze Star. After his discharge he returned to Miami, where he learned the Marble trade at Custom Craft. He ultimately moved to Melbourne, FL with his family where he created Glazar’s Custom Tile and Marble, famous for his excellent work, commitment to doing things the right way, and bright yellow business card with the words “Damn Good” prominently displayed. Jim was a very dynamic person with a broad knowledge base. He knew everything about anything, and was always just a phone call away willing to help friends, family, or anyone in need. He was a Certified Master Diver, avid fisherman aboard his boat “Shut Up and Fish”, bowler, athlete, and skilled motorcyclist. He was active in the Ormond Beach American Legion and the Space Coast Florida Chapter Harley Owners Group (HOG). For HOG, he acted in multiple leadership roles. Most importantly he was the Road Captain for many years where he planned and led hundreds of amazing rides over thousands of miles, always focused on keeping his fellow riders and friends safe. It was within the HOG group that his personality came to life, and he made many lifelong friends.
Jim was preceded in death by Barbara, his wife of 30 years. He is survived by his son Timothy Glazar, his daughter-in-law Keenan Glazar, and his Grandchildren Samuel and Ava Glazar.
