

Jeanette was born in Saybrook IL. to Mattie Fern and Courtland McKinley Compton and grew up in Salem Indiana. Jeanette was a firm believer of work ethics all of her life. She lived and worked in a rural farming community in Salem Indiana and eventually ended up in Melbourne Florida in 1956 and went on to retire from Radiation/Harris Corporation. Jeanette was deeply family orientated, extremely loving and wonderfully supportive of everyone who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her loving parents and brothers, Roscoe, Granville, Leonard and Benny Compton. As well as her beloved children, Robert William Chambers, Roger Merle Chambers, Alice Dell Edge, Mary Ann Harris and husband Peter Simpson.
Jeanette, known to many as “Grandma” was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Jeanette was a follower of Jesus Christ since childhood and was a lifelong member of Bowe Gardens Baptist Church in Melbourne Florida. She truly enjoyed the fellowship of her church family, friends and entire congregation. The Bowe Gardens family was wonderful and supportive during various times of her life and especially so during the grievous loss of loved ones.
Survivors are her three sons, Richard Chambers, Rex Chamber and Jay Kross and two daughters Rita Culverhouse and Peggy Headly. Jeannette is also survived by a numerous amount of loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and one great-great-great grandchild, as well as cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visiting will be held at 10:00am with services to follow at 11am Monday December 17, 2012 at Fountainhead Memorial. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to Bowe Gardens Baptist Church.
