John Francis Biansco Sr., affectionately known as "Captain Jack," peacefully departed this world at the age of 89 on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, in Palm Bay, Florida. He was born on April 5, 1934, in Albany, New York, to the late Michael and Marion Merganthaler Biansco.
Captain Jack had an unwavering love for the great outdoors. He cherished moments spent deer hunting, offshore fishing, boating, and cruising on his Harley Davidson motorcycle. His heart raced with excitement as he followed the twists and turns of NASCAR racing, with a special affinity for driver #9, Bill Elliott. Captain Jack's adventurous spirit also led his family on cross-country summer vacations, starting with humble tent pitching, evolving into the comfort of a travel trailer, and ultimately luxuriating in a motorhome. He found solace in the country tunes of the 60s and 70s, with Hank Williams and Willie Nelson being his favorite artists.
Jack was an active member of the Elks Club in New York and the local American Legion 81. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Janet; son, John Biansco Jr.; brothers, Richard Legare and Donald Legare; and son-in-law, Ray Mendrick.
He is survived by his adoring children, Carol Rafferty (husband Jerry), Mary Mendrick and Michael Biansco, who will forever carry his legacy in their hearts. His sister, Joanmarie Legare Fedorowicz, and her husband Donald, will remember him with the deepest affection.
Jack's loving presence lives on through his devoted grandchildren: Charles Hotaling Jr., Michael Joseph Biansco, Christopher Romano, Heather Bernard, Tricia Pride, and John Francis Biansco III; and 14 great-grandchildren. His legacy will continue to grow through the generations he nurtured with love and care.
A Celebration of Jack's Life will be held on Saturday, September 16, with a gathering of friends and family for one hour, beginning at 11 a.m., followed by services at 12 p.m. at Fountainhead Funeral Home. Jack and Janet’s final resting place together will be at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, a testament to their enduring love.
