

John W. McDaniel, age 85, of West Melbourne, FL passed away on August 12, 2018. John was born on September 21, 1932 in Hutchinson, Kansas. He was the son of Himan T. and Hazel M. McDaniel who preceded him in death. He was a resident of Hutchinson, Kansas until moving to Florida in 1999.
He was a 1950 graduate of Hutchinson High School, enlisted in the Kansas National Guard in 1948 and the unit was activated in Sept. 1950. He served in the US army during the Korean Conflict until honorably discharged in 1952, He enlisted in the Kansas National Guard from Dec. 1952 to Dec. 1953. He enlisted in the Kansas Air National Guard Dec. 1958 and served until Dec. 1961.
He was employed by the Kansas Department of Transportation as an Engineering Technician with 40 years experience before retiring in 1994.
John and his wife Betty enjoyed antiques and collectables and loved to attend garage sales and flea markets.
He is survived by his wife Betty J. McDaniel, daughter Pamela D. Alvis of Indian Harbour Beach, FL., sister Betty Snow of Ponca City, OK., three grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. His parents and his sister Maxine Pickerill preceded him in death.
A memorial service will be held on September 4, 2018 at 10:00 am in the mausoleum chapel area at Fountainhead Memorial Park, 7303 Babcock Street SE, Palm Bay, FL. Inurnment will take place directly after the service.
