Whenever I want to describe the person I admire Kurt has and will always be number 1!  Never met someone as giving and respectful.  He painted my house with a broken knee, let my family stay at his place even when he was not home, and was ready to host a party anytime I was in town.  The guy was a god send to this world and my life.  Got a call today that made me think of him and needed to say something to anyone that wanted to listen.  I will miss him always.

I guess it’s true what they say about “the good die young”.  I met Nick and the rest of the family  when I was in the second grade in the early 80’s. I remember shaking your hand and being extremely nervous because you were a big man with a loud boisterous voice. A couple of years down the road I had started picking on Nick like a big brother does a little brother. Looking back I guess I was kinda mean. I was having a hard time with life and trusting adults. Anyway, I had made a nasty prank call on some strangers answering machine and told them my name was Nick Lorenzini and left your phone number. Everyone knew it was me immediately and my old man was pissed and made me go to your house to apologize. I was scared absolutely shitless and I had no idea what you were gonna do. You could have reamed my ass or slapped me around for all I knew. With a shaky voice I apologized and you asked me if I knew what I did was wrong. I said yes and you shook my hand, said something funny and told me it was alright. In all my life I have never respected or admired any other man like I have you, except your son. You guys are two of a kind. I have lost many friends and family and strangely none of those losses have affected me the way your passing has. You will be missed greatly as a great man should.

                                                               The Rose Beyond the Wall

In remembrance of Kurt, 

Nick and I became friends when he was in 5th grade and I was in 4th grade. His father Kurt used to take us around town to putt putt golf, the arcades and movie theaters. One time he drove us down to the arcade next to the movie theatre. But this time Kurt asked us if we wanted to see a movie and we agreed. We saw “Dr. Giggles”, Kurt paid my way and refused my money. I remember this distinctively, besides my immediate family that was the first time someone had paid my way into a movie.   

As the years had gone by I was lucky enough to work at Regal, where Kurt and I grew to become friends. He cared about his employees. He liked to do company activities, take us to events or organize parties for the company. One time a group of us and Kurt had gone down to the Miami Dolphins Stadium to watch a game. I had bought a couple hats there. As a Dolphins fan, that was the first time I had been there. It didn’t matter the Fins lost, it was always a good time hanging out with Kurt.

Kurt had giving me advice through the 25 + years we have known each other and here are a few of them,
1) Never buy gap car insurance
2) Don’t assume, because assumptions can grow into something far from the truth
3) If you have to tell somebody they did something wrong, always start and end with telling them something positive they have done

Years back I had saved up a good wad of cash to buy a new vehicle. Kurt caught wind and offered to loan me some money, with “No” interest he stressed. He said it was so I could get a better deal on the one that I liked. I declined at first, but later I reconsidered and accepted. I ended up getting a Mustang Convertible. Months down the line Kurt came and asked, “Hey man, do you want swap vehicles for a week”. Kurt left in a convertible. 

To the entire Lorenzini family, I am deeply saddened by the news. I know your strong family bonds will help guide you through this tough time. Kurt is a great man and lives through us all.

 Wow Kurt I can’t believe you’re gone :(.       30 years ago, I delivered a tube of caulk to you and you became a loyal customer. 👋🏼    So many changes over the years and so many great memories, including watching your Cubs at Wrigley Field and you threatening to throw me off the top of the Sears Tower   Ha ha ha      Rest In Peace my Friend ✌🏻❤️🙏🏻

There are no words to describe the loss of you Kurt. You were a friend and inspiration to so many. I will treasure the memories from the old neighborhood. What I wouldn't give for one more game of spoons,  one more of your epic Halloween parties or just a big hug from you my friend.  We truly lost one of the Great One's!!! To Sue, Nick, Jenn and Angie, our thoughts and prayers are with you.  Love you all! So sorry for your loss.
