Leona was born May 6, 1928, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the late Frances and Frederick Hahn III.
Survivors include her children Barry Monroe and Mark Monroe.
She was preceded in death by the father of her sons Robert Monroe, her second husband Art Compton. and brother Fredrick Hahn IV.
She grew up in Germantown, Pa. During the war years she attended boarding school, eventually graduating from College of Wooster in Ohio. Later she obtained a master’s degree in library science and remained a librarian until retirement.
After retiring, she moved to Maine with her previous husband and in 1984 reconnected and married her college fiancé and relocated to New Hampshire. Leona made her final move to Florida after his retirement where she participated in choral society and church activities.
