Born in Louisville, Kentucky March 11, 1929, Died March 19, 2023 at home in Palm Bay, Florida.
Son of Olive Shippen Russell and James Madison Russell. Student at Holy Trinity, St Xavier HIgh School And St Joseph Academy in Bardstown, Kentucky. A lifelong devout Catholic who loved his family including all of his aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, his country and his neighbors. Always quick with a smile or a corny joke, he didn't know a stranger and was always willing to help anyone in need. As a veteran of the US Army, volunteerism was in his blood. A member of the St. Vincent De Paul Society and the Disabled American Veterans he was always on the go.
He stressed that putting your faith in Jesus, things will always work out. When faced with life threatening events in his life it seemed he was always protected by a bevy of angels.
Married to Emma Aracely "Shelley" Russell in San Antonio, Texas having four children, Charles, James, Gerard and Maria Teresa "Tess". His loving wife of over forty years predeceased him in Louisville, Kentucky in 1994. She was a devout Catholic, a rock and a saint that has been missed by the family since.
He moved to Palm Bay, Florida and found love again when he met Yolanda Rivera, a widow, and her son Brian. Married in 2002, Yolanda "Yolly" and Brian have provided much love, joy and comfort to Paul for over twenty years. Yolly , also a devout Catholic, never failed to love and care for him selflessly during their marriage including the last four years of infirmity. Brian was always there to help also, to which Paul was very grateful. They are members of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Palm Bay, Florida.
He is predeceased by his siblings James, George, Elizabeth, John, Joseph and Ada and his grandson Kenneth Geisler. His survivors include his wife Yolanda, stepson Brian, his daughter Tess, sons Charles, James (Mary), Gerard (Carol). Grandchildren Derek, Chris, Bryan
( Christine), Emily, Greg, Alexa( Garey), Shelley and Christian. And his great grandchildren Carter, Cadence, Elijah, Maryanne and Garey. His nieces, nephews, cousins and their families in Kentucky, Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Texas, Nevada Tennessee, Pennsylvania, Maryland and the Philippines.
