

Richard H. Onines, 90, of W. Melbourne died Friday at Holmes Regional Medical Center. A native of Vincennes, Indiana he came to the W. Melbourne area from Tucson, Arizona in 2001. He was a life long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served the church in many capacities. A veteran of WWII, he had served in the US Navy and was one of the D-Day survivors having been one of the first on the beach at Omaha where he had been attached to the Army to serve as a Signalman. He had been a member of the Sixth Naval Beach Battalion group and served as the historian for many years. Richard had retired from the Kemper Insurance Company where he had worked from the home office as an Insurance Examiner.
Preceded in death by his first wife: Norma; Richard is survived by his wife: Virginia; sons: Steven (Edith) of Cotati, California, Patrick (Beth) of Lake Zurich, IL, Michael Bresnahan of Champaign, IL, Patrick (Tina) Bresnahan of Palm Bay, Shawn Bresnahan of Waynesville, NC, Thomas Bresnahan of W. Melbourne, Martin (Kelly) of Medford, Oregon; daughters: Maureen (Peter) Tan of Champaign, IL, Terri (Richard) Reid of Freeport, IL, Mary Bresnahan of Dublin, Ohio; 24 grandchildren; and 37 great-grandchildren.
