Robert Maurice Paradis passed away on February 23, 2026, at the age of 79. He died peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family. Robert, fondly known to all as “Bob”, was born on December 18, 1946, in Frenchville, ME, the eldest son of the late Ivan and Sylvia (Marquis) Paradis. At the age of 5, and speaking only French, he and his family moved to Southington, CT where he grew up and prospered with his 2 brothers and 3 sisters in the best family neighborhood on Frost Street ever!
Bob was preceded in death by two sisters, Diana (Paradis) Blair and Evelyn Marie Paradis of CT. He is survived by his loving wife, Karen (Dutton) Paradis of FL; two brothers: James (Linda-deceased) Paradis of Southington, CT and Kenneth (Rita) Paradis of Lakewood Ranch, FL; a sister, Gloria (Vincent) Colonero of Southington, CT and many brother/sister in-laws, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. We would also like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the wonderful care given by Cleveland Clinic, DaVita Dialysis of Melbourne, Viera Hospital Staff and Doctors, and the Health First Hospice Care Team.
Bob was a graduate of Central CT State University, New Britain, CT majoring in English Education and teaching for 5 years in his hometown of Southington. A summer job working for his brother, Ken, in a furniture store, led to an avid interest in woodworking. He decided to leave the classroom and worked in the furniture and cabinetry trade, buying an established business, Jefferson Pine. Wanting to develop a unique cabinetry business, he soon partnered with his dear friend, Mike, who was a master woodworker and like a brother to him, and together they formed Custom Furniture & Design LLC in Litchfield CT which grew to be a highly successful and distinguished cabinetry business.
Bob was an active member in his church, Our Lady of Grace, in Bantam CT, serving as a Eucharistic Minister, CCD teacher, and building committee member. He also served his community in Morris, CT as an active member of many boards and commissions. He was a sports enthusiast and was a devoted fan of the NY Yankees, New York Giants and UCONN Basketball. He truly loved being outdoors. Winters found him skiing in VT and out West with his wife and family and spring through fall enjoying golf. But his greatest passion was riding his bike. He was an avid cyclist traveling hundreds of miles on cycling adventures with family and friends.
Bob was a true gentleman, treating everyone with respect in his business and personal life. He was loved by all and will be truly missed.
