William Council Pitman (88) left to be with our Lord Jesus Christ in his eternal resting place on March 4, 2021 in Melbourne, FL. He was the husband of Edna E. Pitman; they shared 65 wonderful years together.
Born in Lumberton, NC on September 18, 1932 to Marvin and Essie Pittman. He graduated from Upper Iowa University with a BA in Business Admin and earned his Master’s Degree from Frostburg State University. He proudly served this country in the United States Air Force for over 20 years being deployed to Korea and to Vietnam three times. He retired from Harris Corporation as a Systems Program Manager.
He was a member of Central Baptist Church and Masonic Lodge #397 of Palm Bay where he was an Original Founder and served as Worshipful Master twice, he was also a former member of the Azan Shrine. He will be remembered for his love of God, family, friends, bad “Dad” jokes and for those fortunate enough to receive one - his hugs.
He is survived by his wife Edna, children: Debi Hammett (R. Frederick), Dawn LaDow, Dennis Pitman (Suzanne); grandsons: Andrew F. Hammett, Philip A. LaDow (Ashley) and Sean C. LaDow; great granddaughter: Mina H. LaDow and brothers Larry Pittman (Nancy) and Kenneth Pittman and many nieces and nephews.
A Christian and Masonic service will be held on Saturday, March 20th at 10am at Melbourne Lodge #143 located at 2300 Dairy Road, West Melbourne, FL 32904 followed by military funeral honors at 2pm at Fountainhead Memorial Park located at 7303 Babcock Street SE, Palm Bay, FL 32909.
