Alex Ballora, 80, passed away on Friday, October 11, 2019. Alex was born October 3, 1939 in Italy as the youngest of 4 brothers and raised in Egypt. Alex made his way to the States in the late 50s. He worked as the Head of Security for the prestigious Plaza Hotel in NYC before landing in Key Biscayne at the Sonesta Beach Resort in 1962. Alex's pride and dedication to the Sonesta is reminiscent of how he lived his life. He worked at the Sonesta until 2004. Alex forged a beautiful life for himself and his family as he met his lovely wife Dayna. Soon after their two beautiful girls, Tracie and Andriana, were born. Alex loved his country, the Miami Dolphins and most of all his family. He lived for his girls; Dayna, Tracie and Andriana and cherished his grandchildren. Alex was a proud Italian/American. He spoke seven languages, traveled the world, was a world class cook and soccer player and Olympic diver. Alex loved working out and competed in bodybuilding. He won Mr. Italy two years in a row.
Alex is survived by his wife, Dayna Ballora; daughter Tracie Dominguez (Lazaro); daughter Andriana Ballora (Greg); and son William Ballora. Alex was a proud grandfather to Bradyn, Jaxon, Madison and Tyler. Should friends desire, contributions to Alex's funeral services may be accepted in lieu of flowers.
