

Larry M. Nichols passed away on Thanksgiving Day, November 24, 2011 after a courageous struggle with lung cancer in Palm Harbor, Florida at the age of 79. Larry was born on January 26, 1932 in Flint, Michigan and he and his wife Patricia spent their winters in Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leta (Hill) and Vern Nichols. He married his High School sweetheart on September 3, 1951 and was heartbroken when she died on July 23, 2011. He was a graduate of East Lansing High School and worked at Williams Gun Shop in Lansing while attending Michigan State College. He served in the Army during the Korean War and upon his return he worked at Oldsmobile in the Traffic Department until his retirement in 1988. Larry was an avid sportsman and enjoyed the outdoors. He was an Endowment Member of the National Rifle Association, a Life Member of the Michigan Trapshooting Association, and The Capital Area Sportmen's League. Larry enjoyed hunting trips in the west and teaching Boy Scouts gun safety.
He is survived by his Aunt, Dorothy McMullen and his sister in law Joan Finch and her husband Edmund, Palm Harbor, FL; and their son Gregory Finch and wife Terry, and their son, Andrew of Waterford, CT. His family will miss his quick wit. Private services will be held in Florida with inurnment in Deepdale Cemetery, Lansing.
