

Richard Jess Atilano, a brave, selfless, kind-hearted, and beloved man, passed away on February 1, 2026, at the age of 63. Born on July 22, 1962, in Los Angeles, California, Richard was raised in Reseda, California, where he attended Cleveland High School.
Richard dedicated 35 years to the aerospace industry, working initially at Marquardt Corp in Van Nuys, California, and later at Hawker Pacific in Sun Valley, California. His career was marked by his commitment and expertise.
He is survived by his loving wife, Cynthia Atilano, and was a cherished bonus dad to Simon, Regina, Ally, and Jessica. Known affectionately as "Uncle" to Josiah, Hilo, Keno, Micah, and the newest additions, Jeremiah and Jameson, Richard's family was central to his life. He is also survived by his mother, siblings, and other family members. He was preceded in death by Frisca, his beloved dog.
A devoted San Francisco 49ers fan, Richard was known as "49er Kid" and enjoyed attending games with his wife and family. He took great pride in his home, often working on various projects.
Richard's battle with cancer for 10 1/2 years was a testament to his strength and bravery. Despite his illness, he continued to give to others, embodying unconditional love. His wife fondly referred to him as her "little man with a big heart."
A visitation will be held at Joshua Mortuary Palmdale, located at 3150 E Palmdale Blvd., Palmdale, CA 93550, on February 12, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A Mass will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 1600 E Ave R-4, Palmdale, CA 93550, on February 13, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm.
Richard's legacy of kindness and strength will continue to inspire all who knew him.
